September 26 - October 31, 2026, Artist Members Photography Exhibition. In addition, four well known North Shore photographers feature their exceptional photography, each with a solo exhibition. The MAA is located at 8 Hooper Street, Marblehead, MA 01945; 781-631-2608. Visiting hours are Wednesday - Sunday, noon until 5 p.m.

August 1, 2026 - January 24, 2027, Picasso, Miro, Dali: Unbound, introduces the imaginative world of collaboration by these inspiring Spanish artists. September 6 - December 6, 2026, Maverick Kings Three Visionary Pharaohs of Egypt’s Golden Age: Drawing primarily from MFA’s extensive collection of ancient Egyptian art, one of the largest and most important in the world, “Maverick Kings” explores the lives and legacies of three dynamic monarchs through their art and own words, Hatshepsut, Amenhotep III, and Akhenaten. Visitors can see major monuments to Hatshepsut, including the only royal sarcophagus from the 18th Dynasty outside of Egypt; large statue of deities in animal form, a style characteristic of Amenhotep III’s reign, such as a nearly six-foot-tall statue of a falcon; and a sculpted portrait of Akhenaten’s son, Tutankhamen who restored the cults of the old gods. The exhibit also includes objects on loan from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC, the Egyptian Museum in Berlin, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Kimbell Art Museum in Forth Worth, Texas.

Through June 1, 2027, Roy Lichtenstein 1997. This exhibition runs in conjunction with the major exhibition Roy Lichtenstein: Like New, opening October 11 on the Museum’s 5th floor. In 1997, at the age of 73, Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997) was as innovative and productive as ever. Inspired by comics and other images of American consumer culture which helped usher in the Pop Art era, Lichtenstein began to expand his palette of mostly primary colors, adding vibrant highlights of mint green, turquoise, coral and cyan. He worked on a variety of adventurous projects, among them two mural commissions, several large scale sculptures, and a new series of prints. This exhibit offers insight into the range of the artist’s late experimentation and illustrates his ongoing interest in new technologies and their effects on image making. Roy Lichtenstein 1997 is organized by David Crane, Curatorial Research Associate, and Nakai Falcon, Curatorial Assistant. Generous support is provided by David Bolger
